Tadjikistan is a nation in Central Asia bordered by Turkestan to the north, Serindia to the east, and the Iranic states of Afghanistan and Persia to the south. It is the homeland of the Tadjik peoples.
The National Republic of Turkestan was created under the Treaty of Akmolinsk (1937), which ended Turkestan's war for independence from the Russians. The National Republic was created to serve as a homeland for the Persian-speaking ethnic Tadjik peoples.
