Arabic (اللغة العربية, al-luġa al-ḁrabía) is a Semitic language spoken across the Near East and northern & central Africa. Two registers of the language, the prestigious Literary Arabic (LA, الفصحى, al-fuṣħa) and several regional varieties known as dialects (العامية, al-ḁ́mía), coexist across predominately Arabic-speaking regions.
