Information

1341 gathering of prince-electors from the constituent states of the Holy Roman Empire.

This template enables the systematic illustration of countries, regions, cities or other entities in lists, by showing their respecive coats of arms, as an alternative to i.e. Template:Flag. The use of heraldry as a means to identify geographical entities is a centuries-old tradition.

Please note: Only the escutcheon is included (with the possible addition of surmounting crowns for monarchies). This principle ensures tidiness and visibility even at a low resolution, and satisfies the rules of heraldry.
