Batavosphere

From Roses, Tulips, & Liberty

The Batavosphere (Dutch: Bataafs-domein, Amerikaens: Bataevs-dommeyn, Tauaans: Padatris joeng) is a term referring to a group of nations that share, or are heavily influenced by, Dutch culture. The geographical definition of the Batavosphere has changed throughout history and is interpreted differently by various scholars.

Today, the core Batavian nations are considered to include the constituents of the Dutch Union, Tauland, the Cape Republic, and the Amerikaener states of New Netherland, Tussenland, and the Freestate. Soenda, Boschland, South Tussenland, Opdamsland, and the Gold Coast are less often mentioned.
