Description
This template enables the systematic illustration of countries, regions, cities or other entities – i.e. in lists – by showing their respective coats of arms. The use of heraldry as a means to identify geographical entities is a centuries-old tradition.
Please note: Only the escutcheon is included (with the possible addition of surmounting crowns for monarchies or mural crowns for cities etc.). This principle ensures tidiness and visibility even at a low resolution, and satisfies the rules of heraldry.
Example
*{{Coat of arms|Australia}} *{{Coat of arms|Austria}} *{{Coat of arms|Belgium}} *{{Coat of arms|Canada}} *{{Coat of arms|Copenhagen}} *{{Coat of arms|Holy Roman Empire}} *{{Coat of arms|France}} *{{Coat of arms|First French Empire}} *{{Coat of arms|Kingdom of France}} *{{Coat of arms|Paris}} *{{Coat of arms|United Kingdom}} *{{Coat of arms|United States}}
