Malakka, officially the free state of Malakka (Dutch: Vrystaat van Malakka) (Chinese: Mǎliùjiǎ zìyóu zhōu_ is a sovereign mega city-state in the Malayan peninsula. Its maritime border is the strait of malacca while it is completely surrounded by the East Indies Federation. The countries territory is largely composed of the traditional Malakkan sultanate minus a few additions gained in the chaotic years of the late 1970s. It is one of the most densely populated nations in the world with roughly 7 million people in an area that is roughly 1600 square kilometers. Malakka is unique in that it was founded as a defacto Malayan Chinese enclave and as such is radically different from the rest of the peninsula. This unique situation combined with the countries early history and siege mentality has led to a unique nation that is a blend of Dutch, Chinese, and some Malayan influences.

Modern Malakka was founded in the waning days of the East Indies Crisis. throughout the east indies crisis, Malakka acted as it did before as an administrative and military hub, it had been under Dutch rule for 334 years. It was the regional home to three KNIL divisions and when the order came to withdraw from the area, these divisions their officers refused, and together with the local KNIL airwing they went rogue. What followed was the start of modern Malakka which was created by Major-general Pieter Hendrik van Oyen, who led the three divisions in going rogue. Under his leadership, the divisions and air force used their contacts to stock up and fight off repeated attempts by the EILF to seize the city. Eventually led to the seize fire agreement of 1978 after which the Malakkan state was declared.

After early years of turbulence, repeated border skirmishes with the EILF, lacking natural resources, lacking a hinterland the nation rapidly developed itself. This was partly through its own need for survival it managed to create a robust domestic industry using it as a basis to further develop itself. Eventually in the final years of the Malakkan state with more “Wartime” restrictions being removed it opened up its economy and began to rapidly develop into one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia. In the present it has one of the highest quality of life in the region and longest live expectancy and ranks high in the charts for education, healthcare quality of life, and personal safety, it also has one of the lowest infant mortality rates in the world. Malakka has been identified by many as a tax haven and a gambling mecca in the region using its neighbor’s stricter rule on gambling to its advantage.
