Mexican empire clamps down on dissent in central america and in the former boer republics. This increases tensions with the Dutch and NNL and leads to the Dutch-Mexican war or second boer war which leads to a loss of mexican territory and a loss of prestige for the emperor. Eventually in the 20th century mexico becomes a republic and has an economic boom
