English: The 1861 Louisiana "Pelican" state flag proposal. It was not adopted during the Civil War, but was unofficially flown both during and postbellum. EDITORS NOTE: Please do not add the postbellum "Union, Justice and Confidence" banner below the pelican nest as it would be historically inaccurate.
