the Eight-rayed Sun would represent the Eight provinces that first revolted against Spain in the Katipunan Revolt, namely Manila, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Batangas, Laguna and Nueva Ecija
The inner Eight-rayed sun represents the eight provinces that continued to fight against Spain even after Jacinto's exile, namely Pangasinan, Ilocos, Morong, Negros, Panay, Cebu, Bohol, and Zamboanga.
The twelve stars are the Geographical divisions of the Philippines: Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao, North Borneo, Ternate (Halmahera), Papua, Palau, The Carolines, the Marianas, Las Hermanas, Santa Cruz and Espiritu Santu.
