Since the 1980s there has been a sharp increase in the number of gyms within the country. Due to social pressure and a clear-cut idea of what people need to look like to be considered attractive in Taulandt culture, things such as cardio, CrossFit, weight training has become quite popular in the county.

== Family structure ==
Taulandt family structure is based upon both Dutch and Chinese influences, this comes from the fact that many early marriages were between Dutch males, often sailors and females. These two influences often over the generations morphed into a strong family structure that has things in common with the Dutch kinship and Chinese kinship systems.

In the modern-day, the Taulandt family or Gezyn as it is called typically consists of 1 Father 1 mother and three children being the norm but it's not uncommon to find parents who have 4 children, it also includes the extended family which is considered within 2 degrees of separation. The parent’s role is to take care of the children and provide stability and encourage them in regard to academic pursuits and to achieve what is expected of them by their family be it academic, art, or in some cases financial goals. This great pressure upon children to conform to social norms has somewhat changed as social norms have changed but the basic pressure is still there albeit in a different less direct form.

What is considered family in Taulandt is quite smaller in regards to numbers than on the mainland. Within the family structure, a family might consist of grandparents, their children, and their children, yet beyond that, there is no real connection to other blood relatives outside of the grandparents having contact with their brothers or sisters. While related by blood it is often the case that a family name might be prevalent and connected by blood but those members not feeling any affiliation to their distant relatives.

== People ==
Taulenders or Tau refer to the ethnic and cultural group that has formed through centuries of intermarriage and cultural exchange between the Dutch, Han settlers, and some Korean and Japanese, overtime it has led to the development of a separate ethnic group accompanied by its separate and unique culture.

Taulanders in regards to ethnic differences, the Taulanders have seen themselves as a separate group as early as the mid-1750s. Formed mainly from Dutch and Han-Chinese settlers intermarrying overtime, mainly Dutch sailors who settled on the island married Han-Chinese women with Han settlers being spread through the dutch towns and overtime formed the group that is today known simply as Taulanders.

From a physical perspective several key differences have overtime manifested themselves through reproduction, cultural pressure, and the meeting of west and east. They are often seen to have Nordic-Northern European hair colors ranging from blonde, red to dark brown, overtime their eye colors have become lighter and lighter with blue and green being not uncommon as well as European eyes. Due to various social norms and cultural pressure, pale skin has often been seen as attractive resulting in many, largely due to the Dutch-Han Chinese descendants, Northern European skin pigmentation is not uncommon nor is pale pigmentation. Due to cultural pressure, it is often seen that males look far more like their European ancestors than their female counterparts which look more like a mix.
