1871 to 1881: Costa Rican Period: Spanish dominion but allowed a degree of self rule; increase in hispanicization, tensions with New Spain, independent trade connections built
- Initially the colony stays loyal to the Spanish crown when the communards take over Iberia and then when the viceroy of New Spain declares independence but quickly shifts towards independence. Mexico claims Boschland territory and a war might break out between say 82 & 85 with a brief occupation and insurgency. Britain and other mercantile powers might negotiate Mexico down and force them to agree to accepting Boschland independence.

1882 to 85 (Mexican War & Occupation)
1885 to 1891 1st republic: Oligarchy forms and consolidates power (state with official church)
- independent Boschland immediately starts warming up to NNL & finds themselves allies and backers in the nation. NNL finances the canal in 91/92. Mexico & NNL likely but heads in the lead up to the Boer War over military deployments in Boschland.
- Bort: Internally the first republic I think would start out effectively ruled by a oligarchy of redemptionist leaders (might have an official state church but with religious protections for Catholics to not piss neighbors off too much). Eventually as the first republic continues you might see the leadership become increasingly corrupt and "secularized" with strong connections to NNL (and later Tussenland) elites.
1891 to 1936 1st republic: increasing foreign domination and corruption leads to civil & cultural strife
1936 to 1941: Boschlander revolution establishes a revolutionary theocratic but semi-isolationist state (Prohibitionist inspired perhaps)
1938 to 1959: Christian Republic Era
1959: Military Coup, ANAN-backed strongman takes over, opens up trade + canal
- The dictatorship remains stable past 1985
