British India, also known as the Chimay period (from Tamil சீமை), was the period of British rule in the Indian subcontinent and surrounding regions between the Silesian period's Battle of Arcot in 1753 and the independence of Jambu almost two centuries later in 1944. The Chimay government finds postcolonial continuity in the government of the self-governing Carnatic, which today remains a British dominion and member of the Commonwealth League.
